This is one of my go-to recipes on weekday mornings when I am really craving granola but don’t have any in the cupboards. It takes no time at all to make and I guarantee you already have all of the ingredients ready!

There are people who would probably argue that it’s not ‘proper’ granola, and those who will complain that is doesn’t form crunchy clusters… but it tastes just the same as the real deal and if you can whip it up in 5 minutes then what’s not to love?!

You can add anything you like to the basic recipe to jazz it up - I’ve experimented with crushed almonds, dried fruit and flavours like ginger and cinnamon. Makes: 1 portion

Time to make: 5 minutes

40g (roughly 1/2 cup) Oats 

1 tsp Butter

1 tsp Honey

Pinch of Salt to Taste


  1. Add the oats to a pan on medium heat and toast lightly
  2. After about 3 minutes, add the butter, honey and salt to the pan and stir
  3. Keep on the heat until the butter and honey have melted and are mixed in well with the oats. The longer you heat it the more of a toasted flavour you will get
  4. Sprinkle on yoghurt or over fruit to serve and enjoy!
